Joaquin Niemann won the LAIV title; latest exchange King Abdullah Economic City, Saudi Arabia – Joaquin Niemann clinched his second LAIV Golf Championship title with a 4-under 66 on Sunday in Jeddah, beating Louis Oosthuizen and Charl Schwartzel by four shots.

Niemann now has three victories in the past three months, starting with the Australian Open title that earned him a spot in Europe and eventually led to an invitation to the Masters.

He started the Saudi-organized league’s third season with a bang, beginning the year by defeating Sergio Garcia in a playoff. He now sits atop the points list with another win at the LIV event in Hong Kong last week.

“We have one more week to go,” Niemann said. “I told myself that I can win these three weeks, so we’ll see what happens next week.”

He finished third in an Asian Tour event in Oman last week.

Rory Greens won the final round. No one trailed Niemann by more than two shots after two rounds. Oosthuizen was the last challenger at 16th hole. He shot 67 while Schwartzel shot 68.

Niemann also dug into the world rankings during his interview with the LAIV broadcast team. He joked about being a top-ranked favorite for this year’s major victories.

“How is this possible? I’m like one in a hundred in the world,” Niemann said with a laugh.

Niemann ranks 72nd globally. Official World Golf Rankings, based on votes from major governing bodies, have not granted LIV ranking points due to its small field (54 players), acting as a closed shop without any qualifications.

Anthony Kim, who had been absent from competitive golf for 12 years until signing a contract with LIV Golf earlier this week, finished last with a 74 and 33 shots behind the leader. He created two birdies on Sunday, giving him four for the week.

Kim’s contract did not align him with GolfTipsa team until this week’s LIV Golf event.

Niemann finished at 17-under 193 and earned $4 million, bringing his total to $8,162,000 in three LIV events this year.

The Masters has invited Niemann based on his Australian Open victory, along with two more top-five performances on the European Tour. The Australian Open win qualifies him for the Open Championship, and his performance could earn him a spot at the PGA Championship.

He’ll need to qualify for the US Open if he doesn’t win the Masters. The 25-year-old Chilean is receiving plenty of attention for his two victories this year.

“I’m happier with how I’m playing,” Niemann said. “I want to keep going the same way. I’m proud of the way I played all week.”
